The  Sanctuary

Vision in Action was born through its founder, Pastor Jose Antonio Galvan. In 1995, Pastor Galvan opened the sanctuary to care for the mentally ill.

The sanctuary was designed as a place where residents can receive a better quality of life by being provided with nourishing food, clean clothes, and the gentle care, attention, and treatment that they so desperately deserve. Thankfully, the Juárez community agreed with Pastor Galvan's vision, openly embraced the sanctuary's mission statement, and offered support to benefit each inhabitant. To this day, several general practitioners, psychiatrists, psychologists, dentists, and volunteers from numerous walks of life, join in and continue to strive to help ease the burden of the sanctuary's heavy workload.

Currently, the sanctuary serves an average of 100 persons every month. 70% of those served were found either wandering the streets, experiencing homelessness, or abandoned by their families. Due to the hard work of Pastor Galvan and the sanctuary volunteers, approximately 15% of the residents in 2019 were discharged from the sanctuary and reintegrated into society as functioning, productive individuals.
